NBA Playoffs Picks and Predictions 4-20-2013

With our NBA playoff picks and predictions for Saturday we choose from all five post season games scheduled for April 20th as the action tips off with game ones from the opening best of seven series.

The NBA playoff games begin at 3PM Eastern Time with the final tip scheduled for 10:30PM Eastern Time with every game over national television.

The NBA playoffs begins with an Eastern Conference first round match up as the Boston Celtics will be on the road to face the New York Knicks. The home team Knicks are favored by -7 points with an over under line of 189 ½ points. They start at 3PM Eastern Time over ABC TV.

It will be a first round game one from the Western Conference as the upstart Golden St Warriors will be on the road to face the Golden St Warriors. They begin from Denver at 5:30PM Eastern Time and ESPN will provide the TV telecast. The Nuggets are favored by -8 points with a total of 210 ½ points.

In prime time NBA playoff action at 8PM Eastern Time the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets will begin their best of seven Eastern conference playoff series with game one. Brooklyn is the home team and is a -4 ½ point favorite with the total lined at 181 ½ points.

Out west the Memphis Grizzlies and LA Clippers will begin their NBA playoff series on Saturday night at 10:30PM Eastern Time over ESPN TV. The Clippers are favored by -5 ½ points and the over under line is listed at 178 ½ points.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Charlotte Bobcats NBA Pick Point Spread Betting Line Odds 4-17-2013

The Cleveland Cavaliers (24-57) and the Charlotte Bobcats (20-61) will once again compete with one another on Wednesday night in the final game of the season for both teams before once again going head-to-head in the NBA Draft Lottery.

These have been 2 of the worst teams in the NBA but they actually match up fairly well against one another and we could be in for a competitive game here.

Cleveland is just 10-30 on the road and will be traveling to Time Warner Cable Arena to take on a Charlotte squad that has gone 14-26 at home in this 8:00 PM ET matchup. This will be the 3rd head-to-head meeting of the season after Cleveland won 106-104 as a 1.5-point road underdog in January and 122-95 as a 6-point home favorite in February. Cleveland has won 6 straight against this team while covering the point spread in 7 straight games against Charlotte.

The Cavaliers have lost 5 straight games and are struggling to score since Kyrie Irving came back after missing a few weeks with an injury. Cleveland has scored over 94 just twice over their last 10 games and over 97 in only 1 of those 10 while allowing their opposition to score more than 98 in 6 games during that span.

Charlotte is coming off back-to-back wins over the New York Knicks and the Milwaukee Bucks with both games coming at home. The Bobcats have won 3 of 4 on their home court with the only loss during that span coming against the Miami Heat. Charlotte doesn’t consistently score points either and they’ve had one of the worst defenses in the NBA but have surprisingly given up 95 or less in 5 of their last 6 games this season.

The Charlotte Bobcats (18-60) are in the running for the top pick for next year’s NBA Draft, but to get there they will likely have to lose on Friday in a 7:30 PM ET matchup against the Detroit Pistons (27-52).

The teams with the worst records get more ping pong balls to be chosen when the NBA Draft Lottery takes place and it’s tough to tell how hard either of these teams will be playing on Friday night.

Charlotte has lost 8 of their last 10 games but has been playing somewhat competitively while covering the point spread in 5 of their last 8 matchups. The Bobcats haven’t figured out any sort of consistent offense but their defense has been improved lately as they have allowed 94 or fewer in 3 of their last 4 as they attempt to slow things down a bit offensively.

Detroit has won 3 of their last 5 games while besting the Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, and the Cleveland Cavaliers as underdogs recently. The Pistons are scoring the ball very well over the last week despite point guard Jose Calderon missing some time with injury, but it’s tough to know what to think of this defense considering they’ve played some poor offensive squads recently and only done decently.

The Pistons are a 7.5-point wagering favorite in this matchup, while the total sits at 197 at most online sportsbooks. Detroit won 92-91 on the road as a 1-point underdog 2 weeks ago on the road and also grabbed a 105-99 win as a 3.5-point road favorite a month prior. Detroit was at home in early January but lost 101-108 as an 8-point favorite against the Bobcats.

The New Orleans Hornets (26-49) have not been one of the better road teams this season and on Saturday they will head into the EnergySolutions Arena for a 9:00 PM ET matchup against the Utah Jazz (39-37).

Utah has gone 28-10 when playing on their home court this year and they’ll be an 8-point wagering favorite against a Hornets team that has put up a 10-26 record on the road.

The Hornets have covered the point spread in 5 of the last 6 head-to-head meetings.

The Pistons will be playing at home at The Palace at Auburn Hills where they are 15-22 on the year and Las Vegas has them as a 2-point betting favorite against a Raptors squad that has gone only 9-26 when traveling this season.

The Orlando Magic (18-53) and the Charlotte Bobcats (16-54) are 2 of the worst teams in the NBA this season, and their meeting on Wednesday is going to be more important to their draft position than any playoff run this year.

Although each team would probably be better off losing this game, both will attempt to pick up a win and build some momentum heading into next season where their lucks will hopefully be a bit better.
